Comprehensive Eye Test
Our Story
We’re more than just an optometry practice, we’re a destination for comprehensive eye care that combines cutting-edge technology, expert care, and a keen sense of style.
Your eyes deserve the best care, and that starts with regular, comprehensive eye exams. These check-ups are crucial not only for ensuring your vision is crystal clear but also for catching any potential eye diseases early on.
Here in South Africa, it’s recommended that adults aged 18 to 60 have their eyes tested every two years. Once you hit 61, those check-ups should be annual. At Eyeland Sunward Park, we actually suggest making it a habit to pop in for an eye exam at least once a year, regardless of age. After all, early detection is key to maintaining optimal eye health.
When you come in for an exam, we’ll chat about the best schedule for you. Depending on your eye health, you might need to see us more often if you have:
- – A personal or family history of eye disease
- – Conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure
- – A history of eye injuries or surgeries
- – A high or changing lens prescription
- – Contact lens use
- – Visual impairments
An annual eye exam isn’t just a check-up; it’s an opportunity to build a lasting relationship with your optometrist. Over time, your optometrist gets to know your eyes, using advanced tools and trusted techniques to spot any changes that could signal a problem—often before it affects your vision.
Many eye diseases progress silently, often without noticeable symptoms until they begin to impact vision. This makes routine eye examinations essential, as they enable early detection of potential issues before they lead to significant damage or become more challenging to treat.
As we age, our eyes are more prone to issues like presbyopia, cataracts, and age-related macular degeneration. Regular eye exams are your best defense in keeping your eyes healthy and your vision sharp as you get older.
**What to Expect During Your Eye Exam**
When you visit Eyeland Sunward Park for an eye exam, you’re in for a thorough assessment of your vision and eye health. If you wear contact lenses, we’ll also check how well your eyes are adapting to them.
During a comprehensive eye exam, you can expect a thorough evaluation of your vision and eye health. The process typically includes a review of your medical history, visual acuity tests to check how clearly you see, and refraction tests to determine your prescription. Additionally, we will examine the internal structures of your eyes using specialized equipment to detect conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, or retinal disorders. This ensures both your vision and eye health are well monitored.
Each appointment lasts about a half an hour, giving us plenty of time to ensure you’re comfortable and fully confident in your eye care. Your eye health is our top priority, and we’re here to make sure your vision stays as clear as the South African skies!
